Database Introduction

Launched in 2010 for the writers of the monograph ‘Hassel Smith : Paintings 1937 -1997’, the Hassel Smith database has evolved into a digital catalogue comprising images of the artist’s work and diverse archival materials. The first section, ‘Artworks’, contains images of paintings, drawings, prints, collages, and three-dimensional objects. The second section, ‘Archives’, includes photographic materials, correspondence, printed materials, publications, and writings by the artist.

Contributions of previously unknown or unpublished artworks and research materials are invited from the public.
